If you were like me some years ago you would have drunk a lot of coffee and not give it a second thought.As a Personal Trainer I often discuss the role of caffeine and how it effects the acidity in your body as well as the adrenal gland.Fistly lets discuss caffeine and what it actually is:

Caffeine is a type of alkaloid,a chemical constituent found in plants and its medically known as trimethylxanthine ! It is also an important note to make before i continue that caffeine is an addictive drug.Caffeine triggers the heart beat faster,and yes whilst it’s true it can help you get into the fat burning zone you are much better off in my opinion to do a 20 minute cardio session before you hit the weights and get on a natural high.  Just remeber like anything too much of a good thing is not a good thing so be sure to really think about how caffeine works and if it’s good for you !

There is a term known as “Adrenal Gland Exhaustion” and if you are dealing with stress,then you really wan’t to ditch the caffeine,as it can in the long run worsen your condition,some people are more sensitive to the effects of caffeine than others,caffeine can in larger doses cause nervousness,sweating,upset stomach, anxiety and of course insomnia.If you are insulin resistant(which majority of people are),caffeine is bad and impairs glucose and insulin regulation as part of the stress response.

So  if you are consuming ample amounts of caffeine please be aware you could be setting yourself for a crash in both energy and mood levels A healthy body maintains a blood pH of around 7.3. Coffee is 25.1 on the acidic scale. Caffeine causes a large amount of sugar to be released into the bloodstream. The pancreas reacts by releasing an excessive amount of insulin. The sugar is burned by the body rapidly producing quick energy. Caffeine can cause chromosomes in the cell’s nucleus to break apart. These genes get re-arranged by the toxin.

Coffee also increases urination frequency which inhibits absorption of nutrients (especially Iron). Decaffeinated Coffee is just as bad as an even more acidic than regular coffee. With most our world already being toxic from our everyday diets high in acidity this is the last thing we need to add.
