McDonald’s has been known for it’s less than healthy fare so after our epic leg workout we decided to head to the Golden Arches and discover if we could eat  a meal that fits within the overall structure of  our diet plan.

We Gazed up straight at the Salads
With everyone growing more health conscious, more fast food chains are introducing salads to their menu and McDonald’s is certainly no different.

We choose a very  light salad (basically and ice burg lettuce and a sliced tomato )which didn’t even touch the side for us plus 80kg units and on top of that after a leg session.

Obviously we had declined the dressing altogether  after reading the ingredient’s as this make’s the greatest difference with the calorie intakes so that’s the  thing to keep in mind at all times

We opted for the Jalapeno chicken Wrap which contained

Protein (g) 22.9 7.7
Fat, total (g) 37.4 12.6
Saturated (g) 7.6 2.5

A Bit high compared to other meals  not too bad and washed it down with some good old fashioned water.

Yep. It looks like your friends and family’s nagging you to stop eating fast food, and all the messages of the health and fitness industry to get people eating more “health food” are not working!

So what does work?

Researchers surveyed 530 adults about their attitudes towards fast foods.

They found that people already know fast food is unhealthy. (like, no kidding!)

The primary reasons they eat it anyway are because of the perceived convenience and a dislike for cooking!

(I’d add another: they think fast food is always cheaper than healthy food).

So, said the authors of this research paper, nagging people to eat more healthy food and warning them that “fast food is going to make us fat and kill us” is not the best approach.

What’s do i think is the right approach?

Focus on teaching people how to make healthy eating fast which is what we did, convenient and easy, because those are the reasons people are choosing fast food in the first place.

Fast food restaurants get a lot of flak ! What I like about the Golden arches is that they give back to the community with there charity’s and really we have healthy choices so be wise and choose healthy !

So, next time you’re in a hurry and are making a trip to McDonald’s, keep these points in mind.

Choosing wisely will definitely make a difference in the results you get, so it’s worth your time and effort and knowledge is power .
